In 2002, I took a leap of faith and founded Proactive Technology Partners. Fresh out of university with a science degree, I wasn’t entirely sure where my career path would lead. I had always been drawn to technology and had a bit of a gift for troubleshooting computer problems, which often led me to assist friends and family.

Computers were becoming more prevalent in businesses at the time, but the internet was still in its early stages.

Computers still came with floppy disks back then.

ADSL had just arrived, replacing dial-up with much faster internet speeds. I still vividly remember helping some of my first few clients transition from slow connections to speeds that enabled them to send emails and access the web faster, allowing them to do so much more in less time.

Seeing their businesses thrive with newfound efficiency was incredibly rewarding. It further motivated me to become a trusted expert who could help small companies expand with the right technology.

It was also apparent that small business owners needed reliable technology support, and I wanted to be the person they could turn to for all their IT needs. It was a different era. We didn’t have the plethora of information available at our fingertips like we do today. Fast forward to today, and you can learn how to do anything online. With all this information comes confusion, though. It’s hard to even know where to start these days. With the rapidly expanding complexity of technology, cybersecurity threats and the overwhelming amount of information out there, our services are still very much in demand.

Amidst all the advancements, my core values have remained unchanged. I strongly believe in understanding my client’s unique challenges and goals and forming genuine partnerships rather than just providing technical solutions.

One of the things I appreciate most is our human approach and how much we value the people we work with. Technology may be the driving force behind Proactive Technology Partners, but it’s the people and their aspirations that matter the most to us and helping them get there. I want our clients to feel comfortable and understood, not overwhelmed by tech jargon.
